As Head of Year it gives me real pleasure in outlining the key experiences and events that students go through during this important academic year. Important documents and links are contained in the menu bar to the right.
Do not hesitate to contact me at the school if you have any questions about 今年11.
今年11 is obviously a very demanding year for the students as they focus their attentions towards achieving success in their GCSEs. They should have returned from their summer holidays having completed two weeks of work experience and be highly motivated to ensure they are able to follow their chosen career path. In September, the Prefect team will start their duties which include being attached to a Year 7 form group and taking on the role of a mentor. They will also work with the form and charity reps to ensure a smooth running and supportive cohort.
学生们 will be sitting their mock exams in November and will be expected to spend more time at home working, revising and developing a mature, independent work ethos. One of the highlights of the whole school calendar at the end of the autumn term is the Bow party. This is where the students take responsibility for raising a considerable sum of money to host a Christmas party for a school of partially sighted young children. In addition to raising money, the students decorate and prepare a part of the school turning it into a winter wonderland. They throw an amazing party with gifts for every guest and demonstrate hospitality and kindness that is a credit to every one of them.
今年11 continues to provide an opportunity for students to build on a range of Personal and Social welfare skills with days organised to cover:
- Drugs; the effects and impacts on individuals and society.
- How do we stay safe on the roads? Cars & safety – We will attend the ‘Safe drive stay alive’ production at the Queens Theatre in November.
- 考试; pressure and stress and methods to overcome these emotions.
- Parenting skills and family life.
- Rights and responsibilities in the work of work through work experience reviews.
Throughout the year students are praised and rewarded for their academic achievements. Celebration assemblies are held each term where awards and certificates are handed out. By celebrating each other’s success the year group continue to embed their ‘Love as Brethren’ approach to each other. We particularly take pride in our annual Prizegiving ceremony in recognition of our students’ outstanding achievements
The final school day is always a joyous occasion with a special final assembly organised by and starring the students themselves. It is an outstanding event where all the different talents are celebrated.
It is a tradition that 今年11 students end their examination period with a Prom. 学生们 always make this formal occasion a really special celebration of what will hopefully be five successful years at Coopers Coborn.
