As Head of Year it gives me real pleasure in outlining the key experiences and events that students go through during this important academic year. Important documents and links are contained in the menu bar to the right.
Do not hesitate to contact me at the school if you have any questions about 今年10.
今年10 is a very challenging year for the students as they turn their attention towards their GCSEs. The biggest difference with previous years is that students will have picked their options subjects. This gives them the chance to focus on subjects they want to pursue further as well as the core subjects.
The majority of public exams will take place at the end of 今年11 however some science exams will be sat at the end of 今年10. The change of key stage does present more challenges and students will be expected to spend more time at home working and revising. There is an element of independent work that is expected.
Year 10 provides an opportunity for students to build on a range of skills. 学生们 complete a 1-day First Aid course that is certified for 3 years. 今年10 also participate in careers advice and college taster days. In the last 2 weeks of the summer term students are placed on a work experience placement to give them an insight into the wider world of work.
Towards the end of 今年10 students are also encouraged to apply for the Head Prefect and Prefects roles. The successful candidates will mainly start their duties in 今年11 which include being attached to a Year 7 form group and taking the role of a mentor. However, they will meet the new 7年 intake and help with their induction day in June/July. Throughout the year students are praised and rewarded for their academic achievements. Celebration assemblies are held each term where awards and certificates are handed out. By celebrating each other’s success the year group continue to embed their ‘Love as Brethren’ approach to each other.
